Mother And Baby Separated
Just like humans, cows need to have babies to produce milk.
They carry their young for 9 months and then once born calves are typically very quickly separated from their mothers. Mother cows cry out for their babies for months and then the cycle is repeated until their bodies are considered “spent” and they are shipped to the slaughterhouse.
Female calves face a similar fate, as they are artificially inseminated once they reach maturity. They, too, experience the repeated separation from their offspring before ultimately being transported to slaughter. In the case of male calves, many are placed in veal crates where they live in isolation, exposed to harsh weather conditions, and eventually slaughtered at a few weeks old.
